Brim-full capacity

The brim-full capacity refers to the highest amount of liquid that a jar or bottle can contain. When it comes to jars equipped with metal lug caps or screw caps, this capacity allows for filling the container right to its edge (or brim). It's important to take into account the potential expansion of your product.

Certain jars, such as the pressed jar, have a unique definition of brim-full capacity. This is due to the necessity of leaving room for the cap or cork when sealing the jar. As a result, brim-full capacity refers to the total volume that accommodates caps inside the jars rather than reaching the very top edge of the jar.

Standard capacity

Standard capacity refers to the typical volume designated for commercial applications, which generally reaches the shoulder of a jar or bottle. You might wonder how these measurements are beneficial. For instance, if you have a 320ml glass bottle and need it to contain 300ml of liquid, the standard capacity would be 280ml. However, if the technical specifications indicate that the bottle has an overflow capacity of 320ml, you can confidently fill it with 300ml without any problems.

Exercise caution, as these two measurements represent distinctly different values. Mixing them up could result in an inaccurate fill for your bottle and misrepresentation on the label. Keep in mind that the product's density will influence both the fill weight and the final weight of the jar or bottle.
